I'm starting to carry a lot of junk in the truck. It used to just be a roll of
paper towels that I'd toss behind the seat, but now it's CB stuff, tools, first aid kit,
etc. So I had to do something to get more organized...
I started into the concept of building a custom fitted piece sub-floor like others have done, but frankly. I wasn't too confident of my woodworking skills even though it's a straight-forward project. Then the lightbulb went on.. I have a LOT of IKEA stuff at home, including a couple of 3 drawer 4" high shelves that sit over my computer area... Hmmmmm... Off to IKEA I go! I found something did me just fine. The pics below show what I ended up doing.
I first stained the pieces with cherry walnut water-based stain and then loaded them into the back of the truck. :) Actually... In a trail ride I found that the boxes don't really move, but to be "safe" I ended up securing them to the carpet with industrial Velcro. That's does a good enough job to make sure that the boxes won't slide around and still allows me to pull them out if I need to get something big in there. |
